This course aims to:
Develop understanding of anatomical and physiological factors influencing performance and the body’s response to exercise.
Develop understanding of the social, cultural and historical factors influencing sport today.
Develop understanding of the acquisition of skill and psychological factors influencing the sports performer.
Develop skills and techniques in selected physical activities.
Develop planning, performing and evaluating skills.
Develop the ability to take on different roles in various physical activities such as performer, leader/coach and official.
This subject is examined by coursework and theory papers.

One 2 hour 30 minute paper (worth 65%)
Assessment of performing or coaching or officiating in
1 sport, which must be a sport that you used for AS. There is also
an oral evaluation of a live performance (worth 35%).
It is important that PE students are participating in their chosen activities regularly in and/or out of school. This is not the course to learn new
activities! GCSE PE is not a pre-requisite although it is an advantage. Top grades in this subject come from hard work, determination and lots of reading
around the area.
