Year 9 DofE Expedition
Last weekend 44 Year 9 girls packed their rucksacks and set off on their DofE Bronze assessed expedition. Four groups completed their venture on the Ridgeway near Wantage and three groups were in the Chilterns near Watlington. Good weather was enjoyed by all, as the overnight rain stopped just before the girls emerged from their tents on Sunday morning. The staple diet at the campsite for the groups seemed to be pasta with various sauces, followed by gooey marshmallows toasted on the trangia - didn't look very appetising, but the girls enjoyed it.
During the two days of walking there were the inevitable navigational errors but good team work meant that all the groups completed their expeditions successfully. Well done to everybody and thanks to all the volunteer leaders who gave their time to enable the expeditions to take place.
