OLA Sixth Form is fully co-educational and welcomes students from both the senior school and a range of independent and state schools. Joining our Sixth Form is an exciting prospect for so many reasons.
First among these is our splendid Sixth Form Centre, which offers excellent facilities for work, careers advice, socialising and hosting events.
The Centre gives scope for initiatives such as invitations to visiting speakers, joint debates and functions with other schools, entertaining one another, staff and parents, catering for friends in the kitchen -the possibilities are far-reaching.
There is a wide range of subjects available for Sixth Form students. Most students opt for four AS subjects in the Lower Sixth, enhanced by a broad Enrichment Programme, followed then by three A2 subjects in the Upper Sixth.
We aim for all our students to leave us well prepared for life after school and considerable freedom is given for students to manage their own time and work, albeit with support where it is needed, so that the transition to university, the workplace and family life is accomplished with full confidence.
We recognise that a good balance between work and complementary activities is a crucial element of sixth form life and a varied programme of events is open to our students.
A range of sporting activities are offered and we are proud of our indoor swimming pool in which students can be trained for a range of awards. OLA also organises a popular Young Enterprise Scheme and a thriving Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
Expeditions abroad are a regular activity, as is the annual ski trip. Any musical or dramatic talent will find an outlet in our choirs, orchestras and dramatic productions.
We encourage our students to become involved in wider issues than A Levels in our Active Service Programme where placements are arranged in local communities. The Lower Sixth Enrichment programme gives food for thought and discussion, as do the external speakers.
