All pupils take GCSE Mathematics at the end of Year 11. We currently follow the AQA modular course, details of which may be found on their website at aqa.org.uk. Pupils are taught in small ability sets with specialist help available for the weakest through the Learning Support department.
We aim for 100% Grades A-C with the majority sitting the higher tier examination. Mathematics is a popular choice at AS level and we also offer AS level further mathematics to those continuing to full A Level.
The department believes that learning Mathematics should be not only challenging but also fun. To that end we run regular Inter-House competitions, have consulted with the Education Department at Blenheim Palace to design a Maths Trail around their grounds, take part online in “World Maths Day”, enter pupils for the UKMT Mathematical Challenges and much more!
