Newsletter Twenty Three
Dear Parents,
- Erratum – my apologies to Miss McNeight for referring to her as ‘Mrs’ McNeight in my last newsletter.
- If any parents would like to contribute to Mrs Wrigley’s leaving gift please could they place money (or cheques) in a sealed envelope and return to the school office as soon as possible, marked for the attention of Mrs Haynes only.
- Good Shepherd Appeal – I would like to pass on the following statement received from the diocese regarding our contributions to the Good Shepherd Appeal during Lent.
The school’s recent Good Shepherd Appeal on behalf of the Catholic Children’s Society raised in excess of £300. The Society has asked us to extend a huge thank you for such a generous gift. The donations made have enabled the Society to care for and support some of the more vulnerable and excluded children, young people and families in our diocese. This work relies almost entirely on the generosity of the Catholic community, its churches and its schools. The Society cannot function without your support.
- Toys – I have noted an increase in the number of toys being brought into school. Can I please remind you that children should not bring toys into school which in any way may harm others if used incorrectly or are of any real value. I am quite happy for the children to bring cuddly toys if they are very young or if they have purchased an Our Lady’s teddy and wish to have it in school. No other toys should be brought into school please.
- Earrings – due to health and safety regulations earrings must not be worn in school or, if they have to be worn for any reason, they must be taped up so as to avoid injury to the wearer or any other child. Earrings must be removed for swimming.
- The Summer Fun Day is to be held tomorrow (7th June). All are very welcome. The Parents Association have worked very hard this year to help the school purchase various items for the children’s use and I am sure they would appreciate any support you can give them. Raffle tickets will be on sale on the day and the prizes are very good so please do try to purchase your tickets or return any unsold ones to school.
- Year Six Charity Week begins next week. I am sure they will appreciate your support in their efforts in whatever way you can. Various stalls, games etc will take place at break time, lunchtime and after school. The children in the other classes will need to bring a small amount of money if they wish to participate in the activities on offer. We are aware that this week follows on closely after the Fun Day, but it is such a busy term it was the only time we felt it could be held. We are always very grateful to you for your generosity and I am sure Year Six will enjoy the process of raising money for worthwhile causes. Please note that involvement in the week’s program is optional and children do not need to have money every day. Many thanks for your cooperation.
