OLA Parents’ Association
At OLA we have a thriving Parents’ Association that is, and has been, an integral part of the OLA community for decades.
In its time the OLAPA has raised tens of thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance the students’ education experience and the school’s facilities. For example, recently we contributed £10,000 to playground equipment and £5,000 for a drama department lighting rig alongside exciting science and sports equipment.
Our spending suggestions come from staff, parents and the pupils themselves via the Lower and Senior School Councils.
Linking Home and School
OLAPA is about much more than simply fundraising. We exist to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It is a fun way to get involved in school life and give something to the OLA community.
All parents and members of the school are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. All families automatically become members of the OLAPA when their child joins our school.
There are lots of ways parents can help OLAPA and if you would like to be more involved you can volunteer by contacting any committee member with your details via Classlist (see below) through the school office or come along to a meeting.
OLAPA is a Charity registered with the Charities Commission – Number 1172463.
We are a member of Parentkind, the UK’s leading PTA membership organisation.
2nd Hand Uniform Shop
The PA also runs OLA’s 2nd Hand Uniform Shop. The shop is open 3.00 – 4.30pm the first Thursday and third Monday of each month. Just follow the signs from the Senior School car park.
The shop is also open during every Whole School Open Morning.
We have a wide range of stock from Lower to Senior School all at half the price of the cost on SchoolBlazer, along with house t-shirts, swim bags and other items.
If you have any OLA School uniform items that you would like to sell, please drop them into the Senior Reception with the 2nd Hand Uniform Clothing Hand-In Form completed. Thank you.
You will get 60% of the price of all items sold or if you wish, you can donate the money to raise funds for the PA.
If you find it difficult to get into the shop or don’t want a wasted journey, please contact Heidi Coniam via Classlist (see below) who will check if the item you require is in stock.
